I don't think there is really a method to do it. I find it usually depends on the weed, some just stays lit and others need a torch to give good hits.

I've had weed that says cherry the entire time after only one light.

Weed is all about variability.

most weed normally cherries no problem for me. maybe ur bud wasnt cured properly or something.

if im by myself i like to leave some green between every few hits while its still fresh.

Actually if its in big nugs it will cherry if you really light the top of it, i like it when it cherries since it burn all the way through.

have iron lungs, HIT HARD, carburation,hot fire.....

i cherry everything....specailly when i drive avoid having to have flint lite up hte darkness in my truck

take a long time cutting all your weed up with tiny siccors from a swiss army knife. pack it in your bowl tight with the head of a nail. when you smoke, at first you should hold the lighter on for like 3 or 4 seconds. that should cherry the bowl. if it doesnt cherry after the first hit, pack it down again and the second hit almost always cherries. also, adding a small ammount of tobacco to your weed and mixxing it into the bowl very well will almost definitly cherry the bowl spectactularly.
