a sodium light may make your seedlings stretch anyway, they like blue light at seedling and veg stages.

no dont keep them in the dark .. find a florecent or something to give them light .. either on all the time or 18/6 .. 6 being off .. they will streach .. nothing you can do but put them under the flo to keep the streaching to a minimum .. the sodium may be too powerful for them for a couple of weeks .. but maybe not .. keep an eye on them .. good luck

Get yourself a 30W flo for cuttings and seedlings and problems like this one. You are going to use it anyway probably at some stage.
Do not use Marijuana Indoor Horticulture by Jorge Cervantes. It is wrong. Use The Cannabis Grow Bible by Greg Green instead. This will help stop the newbie confusion and prevent them from asking bad questions at the start. Get a SOLID FOUNDATION before you start!... it is 1/2 the battle.

yes, dont keep em in the dark.
get a florescent, they are pretty cheap
cool white bulb
you can place the light as closes as 1 to 2 inches from the seedlings
this should keep em from stretching

keep the seedlings under floros. until the little things have at least 2 sets of true leaves. if you are going for sensi only, try the 8 hours of light and 16 dark for the first week or two, this is proven to improve your chances of a higher ratio of females.
