Just try writing more songs. Right now I spend about four hours a day in the studio, not recording, just working on chords progressions and melodies. I then take about two more hours to practice with the band.

I also study other bands songwriting, chord progression(s), lyrics and rhythms. For instance I am looking into alot of hip-hop and dance right now( I am trying to make some danceable songs) even though my influences have nothing to do with those styles, I just want to stay up to date. Its also funny to see how much bands steal from each other, the Coldplay song "Clocks", for example, has the exact same chord progression as Daniel Powter's "Bad Day". And Coldplay??s "Speed of Sound" is just ??Clocks? in a different key.

Western music is simple to write. Yet so few people really try to get into it. Shit just gets easier as you go.
Tomorrow Never Knows Reviewed by Tomorrow Never Knows on . My Band I was wondering if anybody here knows of any modern bands that sound like mine. Our sound can probably best be described as a mix of The Zombies, The Beatles, Coldplay, Elton John, Donovan, CSN&Y, The Byrds and some psychedelic touches ala Jefferson Airplane and Hendrix, with a little bit of Jimiesque guitar work thrown in (but not that much). I can??t really find any modern bands that are piano/keyboard based with 60s influences and lots of orchestration (strings, horns, sitars, organs Rating: 5
