1st time and stumbling, please help-hydro

well it's my first time trying to grow dro after many years of reading everything i can get my hands on. now trying to put into practicle use i'm haveing alot of trouble.

i finally have everything set up in a closet

4x 5gallon bins
4x netted pots in each bin (16plants total)
hydroton in eac of the pots
1x 400wt HPS light (not using the covers right now becuase it's just hanging from the hanger rack)
4x 12inch air stones (1 in each bin)
1x 4-way air pump
general hydroponics series nutrients (grow/flower/micro)

ok so to my problems, i germinated about 30plants almost 2 months ago, but when i got my system in (i started germing while it was in the mail) 2 of the 4 bins were broken so i had to wait for replacements. i ordered nutrients at the same time as the system and UPS lost them twice, setting me back 3 weeks. unfortunantly i rushed and set up as many plants as i could while waiting for the nutes and these plants ended up in just water for almost 3 full weeks.

so i finally got my nutrients in and i just guesstimate how much of what i'm supposed to be using and figure about 3-4tsp of GH grow per bin. i really don't know what the GH micro is but i bought it anyways and i guess it's a supplement. well needless to say after the plants got the nutes they were very happy and they even started to grow again (growth had slowed down after most of the jiffy had fallen from the roots). well now it's 1 week later after adding the nutrients and alot of water has been sucked up out of the bins and not all but atleast 3-4 out of 16 of the plants that started sprouting more top leaves are having the top leaves come out real skinny, a little yellow and having brown spots and pointing straight up; not drooping.

some additional info, i have the um, transformer looking thing that attaches to the HPS light sitting outside the closet so as to not cause uneeded heat. the light is hanging on the hanger rack atleast 3-4ft from the plants. i tend to leave the closet door open with an AC unit blowing in that direction to keep it cooled off sometimes.

any ideas as to what might happening to these? i kinda paniced this morning becuase these top leaves are getting slightly worse over these past 3 days and added about half a gallon of water with 3 more tsp of grow combined with 1 tsp of micro to each of the bins.

i'm at a real wierd point becuase these are 2 1/2 month old plants but that have been stunted at 2 poitns of their lives so i'm trying to grow them as 1 month old plants, most are about 1ft to 1 1/2ft now. will update with pics this afternoon, thanks for any input between now and then.

This would probably so better in the Hydro Section.

You just need to flush with plain ph'd water for a week or so. Then, use this link to mix your nutes as GH recommends.
