How Mant Beautys Under A 250w MH/HPS?

I Have a 250W System with both a MH and HPS Bulb. space is not a issue but i'd prefer to do it in the closet. How many 3-4 Ft Plants (Pure Sative) can i fit under a 250w system. I've read on many dif ways to harvest every two weeks, so i want to try and aim for 2-4 OZ. Is that even possible with a 250w system and 3-4 foot plants?. Also what size contaner will be good for the entire life of a 3-4 foot sative plant with out root bound occuring.

im not really sure.. but im also interested in this question as well as i will be purchasing a 250 hps... the one i was looking at had a 28,500 lumen output... and with 3000 lumens per square foot being a good target.. i'd have to say that as many plants as you can fit in like a 2 1/2x 2 1/2 foot square is as many as you can grow...and it also varies greatly on how much reflectivity you have on the walls..... but thats just a guess

Take the largest size pot you will use for flowering and see how many fit in your space. I think 1 per square foot, is a good guideline. I used 10 inch pots.

I found that a 400 H.P.S is around the same price Maybe a little more
but I think It's worth a little extra money?

I am currently using a 250w HPS system for my first grow. The grow room is roughly 3ft wide, 2.5 ft long, and 8ft high. Heat was the main reason for going with the 250w. The room has poor ventilation and I was worried 400w would create too much heat.

My HPS generates roughly 30,000 lumens for 7.5 square feet = 4,000 lumens/sq ft.

I think that is decent but not great. From what I've read 3,000 lumens/sq ft. is the lowest you want to go.

1 male (killed) and 3 female.

Currently the room is filled with growth and the plants are 3 feet tall. I doubt I could flower more than 4 plants in the room without training the plants which is currently beyond me.



Your setup

1. height of plants: I've read that Sativa plants get to be tall. I would make sure you know how tall the plants will get and that you have plenty of room for that size.

2. Harvesting every 2 weeks: Are you planning on having a vegetation room and a flowering room? I doubt you will be able to harvest every 2 weeks if you don't have both rooms.

3. 2-4 ounces every 2 weeks: I've read that experienced growers can get 1 gram for every watt of light (I'm hoping for at least 0.5). Let's assume you have a green thumb and only have 1 set of plants going at a time:

4 weeks vegetative stage
8 weeks flowering
--------------------
12 weeks -- output of 250 grams = 9 ounces

average output per 2 weeks = 1.5 ounces
