Pictures sizes, and how to post pictures

Partyâ??s canceled! My buddies and their kids are sick, so here I am at home with a little time I didnâ??t plan on having. I came up with this, partially because I see so many questions about it, and also because I had a question about picture size.

Canâ??t get my friggen pictures posted. What am I doing wrong?
Thereâ??s more than one way to post pictures, but hereâ??s how I do it:
1) Make sure you know where the pictures are on your computer.
2) Compose your post or reply as normal in the message box under â??Quick Replyâ?�. Or sometimes, like this time, I compose my message in MS Word, do spell check, press control-A to select it all, control-C to copy it all, click inside the message box on the message board, and press control-V to paste it in.
3) If you are â??Quick Replyingâ?� click â??Go Advancedâ?� and you will see a preview of what you have so far, along with an opportunity to add a title and do other stuff. If you are starting a new thread or clicked â??Replyâ?�, you have already got to this point. Here you will see a button labeled â??Manage Attachmentsâ?�. Click it.
4) A box will open and tell you the guidelines for uploading specific file types. There will also be a field to input a web address to upload from if you so desire. Iâ??ve never used this. Click â??Browseâ?¦â?� next to the first field at the top of the "Manage Attachments" window, and find your picture on your computer. Click your file, or double click it, or click it and then click open, depending on how you have your computer set up.
5) Do this up to 5 times per post, and then click the proper â??Uploadâ?� button. Youâ??ll get a message that theyâ??re uploading and to please wait. After itâ??s done, youâ??ll see the names of the files that you uploaded and youâ??ll have a chance to remove individual files. Close the â??Manage Attachmentsâ?� window.
6) Click â??Preview Postâ?� or â??Submit Threadâ?� or â??Submit Replyâ?�.

I haven't botherd to figure out why sometimes I see a thumbnail of people's pictures, while others I see a link instead of a thumbnail. Anyone?
