Follow the Trichomes only they will tell you when peak harvest is. There is an FAQ on that subject. Have a look if you have questions then please ask.
You must have at least a 10x magnifier and a 30x is better.

Trichomes is the only real way. You need a pocket microscope for $8 from Radio Shack.
Harvest clear - Clear, able to think stone
Harvest cloudy - Normal stone
Harvest amber - Narcotic, couch lock stone.
I try for 10 percent amber.

This may be a little more accurate in description only.
100% Clear is week quick head high and will not last long.
100% Cloudy is heavy stone and will last longer (start of peak harvest)
80%/20% Cloudy/Amber is pure peak harvest heaver head and couch lock stone will not last as long as 100% cloudy but is stronger. Anywhere in between is fine and up to you.
Amber Trichomes are dead or dieing. If you pick at 100% amber then you have past prime and the quality of the effect is degraded.
When you check them it's best to harvest on the average with in your field of view and by checking on several parts of the plant and not just one or two places.

harvesting?
When we're talking cloudy, amber, and clear trichomes....is the difference in high that noticeable? I'm was going to be harvesting at 60 days on the dot on my bubblegum strand....but all this talk about a weak high, couch stone high, etc.....is starting to make me think otherwise. Also, how soon into flowering can i start to see trichomes?
