    Problems with odors.

    (FIRST POST!)

So, after nearly 10 minutes of persuading, my grandma -with whom I live- has agreed to let me grow my own weed, under certain conditions.

    1. I can not sell it, which will not be a problem, since I will be producing it for my own consumption.

    2. I have to find a cheap way to control the smell. She says she won't buy an air purifier.

Now, my grandma knows all about weed and the lies the government makes up (she used to be a hippie!) so she agreed to let me grow on these conditions. It has to be indoor because we live in a manufactured home (aka trailer). Have I any chance? Help anyone, I don't want her to get into trouble because of me.

Firsts, watch what strains you select. Pure Indicia's like afghani or hashplant are very oderious. I've heard some of the Northern Lights strains are very low in oder. Other strains smell like bubble gum. With these, read up on charcoal filter or using something like drier sheets to mask the smell.

Keep your grow small, also read up on scrog, one plant in a dwc should be enough for one, perhaps two people. Smaller grows with the right strain of plants would be virtually undetectable.

Word of advice too, if you REALLY don't want anyone to know. Don't say a word to anyone. Once the word is out, yer busted! If you have friends that smoke, and there's a "drought", you don't have any either! And I cannot stress enough, if you have a boyfriend/girlfriend.... DON'T tell them either. After stupid mistakes and friends narcing on you, boyfriend/girlfriend break ups-divorce is the next leading cause of being busted.

    Good luck

All I really have are schwag seeds from my grandpa's weed. No way of figuring out what it is.

EDIT: Would Febreze Air effects cover up the odor?

nearly ten minutes of convincing! damn, grandma plays hardball.
if your op is just for yerself, don't even stress about the smell, neighbors aren't going to smell it, and inside the house they will smell the most when you water them, so do that at discreet times.

if you use some kind of chemical air freshener, take care that it does not come in contact with the plants. eww.

Yeah, one time I put a dryer sheet in the same container with my weed to get rid of the smell and it bled into my weed and made it taste like dryer sheets. Ew. Took like 2 weeks to get the taste out of it. Learn from my mistake. Don't put dryer sheets in the same container as your weed.

Put your 4" exhaust on top with duct going to a 4x4 container of wood with an exhaust of a smaller diameter coming from your box to an unoccupied space or outside. Inside the box put an O3 generator, you can easily build one with a neon sign transformer and a couple jars for cheap. O3 kills odor better than anything and you never need to replace carbon or anything. Dont put it in your grow chamber O3 could damage your plant. Put the transformer on a timer and emperiment with what timing you need to controll your odor. You could also stuff the final exhaust with dryer sheets to give it some back pressure and as a final filter of some sort.

bro go to mdhydro.com and get a 60.00 carbon scrubber and a little inline duct fan at homedpot

no matter what bud plant even if " low odor" , there is still a odor and people know what it is. You will get use to it because your there, but it will smell strong to other people.

like if you even dont take out the trash for a couple of days (or weeks) you get use to the smell after a while, but when someone comes over it will reek fresh to them...and vice versa, im sure you have been to someones place where there trash, or cat piss litter pan smelt very strong, but they dont notice a thing...

dont get your grandma in trouble, espically if you live in a trailer smell can escape easily, and even worse if its in a trailer park because people are close to each other and nosy as hell.

either order a vaportek 4000 for 160.00 pluse 40 for a cartridge you will have to replace every 90 days.

    buy a carbon scrubber.

make a carbon scrubber and put some cheap carbon in it from the aquarium store.

it will also take care of the smell from actually smoking the stuff, imagine when you actually harvest and have buds lying around, start cutting breaking it up, its really goin to reak. If the laws are harsh, and you cant afford 100 bucks for odor control then you cant afford to grow right now pretty much.
