The water did trap some THC, as well as other psychoactive compounds, however, most of the THC present in the marijuana passed through the water pipe unchanged. Pharmacological tests (in mice) revealed that some of the water-trapped marijuana compounds were responsible for producing catatonia and for suppressing spontaneous motor activity. In contrast, the water-filtered smoke itself did not affect spontaneous motor activity and did not induce catatonia, though it was richer in THC. These results indicate that water filtration removes some behaviorally active compounds in preference to others; this may be important when comparing the therapeutic effects of whole marijuana smoke to water-filtered smoke.

Maybe, those with a family history of schizophrenia should be recommended to use a bong.

I rarely use water. I use ice. Cold ice. No water it is passing through, it passes through the cracks of the ice. The ice cools the smoke.

Oh, so you use COLD ice.....maybe that's my problem. I've been using the lukewarm ice.....

reading this thread is making me scared that i won't get stoned from a bubbler. i've never used one but seen many and always thought they were neat, hence why i bought one. hope it still gets me blazed.

It's in your head. A bubbler will get you just as high as most other smoke devices. I make my smoke a thick and creamy white/yellow color before I inhale - I also release the carb towards the end of my hit so I don't inhale ANY non-smoke influenced air.

It's the way you're hitting out of it.
