No, you must have a card to buy from the club. However it is fairly easy to find it on the streets.

It's self explainatory. You go to MD, get Letter, take letter to public health department, they verify with phone call to your MD's office, verification check is ok'd, you pay 25$, and you get your card and you are off to any of the hundred or so clubs in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Thats how it works in San Francisco. 25$ will get you a card that is good for two years...however, i have known people to get a one year card for the same price. My first card was only good for a year. After that it has been for two years every since.

The department of public health distributes the card, they dont make assessments. Tell your MD that cannabis helps you. He writes a note informing the health department that he has discussed the issue with you. You take that note to the health department, pay them, and leave with your shiney new cannabis card. I hope that this is helpful.

The answer is YES, although there has been a lot of abuse over the intent of the law. Most MM clinics, like Medicann, require you to bring in supporting paperwork to justify a recommendation (you can request your doctor to fax you your medical history, which you can bring in).

A serious illness is defined in SB420 (CA) as:

(1) Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).

(2) Anorexia.

(3) Arthritis.

(4) Cachexia.

(5) Cancer.

(6) Chronic pain.

(7) Glaucoma.

(8) Migraine.

(9) Persistent muscle spasms, including, but not limited to, spasms associated with multiple sclerosis.

(10) Seizures, including, but not limited to, seizures associated with epilepsy.

(11) Severe nausea.

(12) Any other chronic or persistent medical symptom that either:

(A) Substantially limits the ability of the person to conduct one or more major life activities as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-336).

(B) If not alleviated, may cause serious harm to the patient's safety or physical or mental health.

The answer is YES. The clubs buy from growers just like the dealers. Prices are not cheaper going to a club (they are often more expensive), but you know much more about what you're getting.

I've found the quality at clubs better than street overall, but not always. Buyer beware.
