Small but can i transplant
Alright, the MG soil mixture probably contains perlite, or some mixture that provides drainage. However, your girls are gonna need a lot of drainage so they don't drown. I'd definitely put in some more perlite, though I am not familiar with the brand of MG soil you're using (I like soil-less mixtures, little more work, but more control). The reason why perlite's so cool is because it does hold water because of the stone-ish texture, but it also allows for fast drainage, as well as nice airation (is that how you spell that word? is that even word?)
A lot of people have problems with MG because of the time-released capsules. With time-released capsules, you never really know the true N-P-K and any given time.
The height and width of your plant depends on two things. The first is genetics. If you have yourself a sativa, you're not going to be able to get it very short and keep maximum bud production. If you've got an indica, then you're one step ahead to a small, bushy plant. After genetics, you can shape the way your plant will grow by pruning.
Now to get into pruning, there are two seperate methods to successfully keep your plant small and bushy. At about the third week of veg, prune less than half of the plant's branches. This is done by cutting the plant at a 45-degree angle to the shoot you wanna cut. NEVER, EVER prune more than half at ANY time. Also, don't just prune one side, prune around the plant. Now, at about 4 or 5 weeks, if you see that the plants you pruned have successfully split and are now growing two healthy new branches with leaves, you can prune the other half now. In about two or three more weeks, you should notice that your plant has started growing outward rather than upward. This is because you're forcing your plant to grow all of its shoots early. Don't expect any more center nodes, though. You can keep pruning from here if you want, though I myself would stop. Then again, I'm not very good.
The other method is called training, or pulling, and I think I've heard another few names for it. It's pretty easy to explain, a little bit harder to pull off successfully. The theory behind it is, you bend your plant. You basically tie a piece of string on to your main stem, then attach the other end of that string to something that will hold the plant down. Anything will work, especially bricks, which tend to be heavy. Really heavy. Break your foot if it falls on it heavy. If you don't like bricks and like taking risks, you can just tie it to another part of your plant. You're just trying to keep that main stem, where your main cola will develop, down. If you do it successfuly, not only can you grow crazy styles out of your plant, but you can also get a lot of bud from your plant. I've never tried this method, because I'm really new to most of this and because I'm scared, so I'm probably not the best guy to present this to you, but I'm sure if I've left anything out someone can fill you in.
Well, it's 4 in the morning, so I'm going to bed. I hopefully didn't leave anything else, I'll check back in on this when I wake up. Good luck!graph Reviewed by graph on .
