Does cloning during flowering make weak or hermie plants?

I haven't noticed this but I guess that's because I've never cloned from flower. At least I think that's what you are saying to do. I think I may want to try this. I've never thought about it, but it might be good to make plants for screen grows. Do I understand you correctly? If I take cuttings from flowering plants my clones will have many main stalks instead of one or two?

pretty hard to clone a plant that has been exposed to 12/ 12 for budding.

    get em early
as soon as the fifth set of leaves appear.

I know it's harder, but I think he's saying that if I do, my plants will have more main stems than normal. This could have advantages. Am I off base here?

in all the years ive been growing, ive yet to have any sort of problem with a plant or its yeild by trimming it, or taking a couple of cuttings. i routinely trim the "suckers" off of the lower 1/3rd of my plants during flowering with no ill effects on the plants, and always use them for cloning, especially if the plants been topped quite a bit before flowering as the suckers are usually node factories and spit out roots fairly quickly ( for a flowering plant, they usually take quite a bit longer to grow roots) from each node.

This is a very interesting thread!

I'm new to the whole thing. However I had a light being held up by strings as a temporary measure. Well as should be expected with such a lousy set up. It broke and landed on a plant. One branch was nearly broken off the main stem. Natuarally I thought CLONE! Now it's in the cloner and showing roots. The plant it came off of recovered fine.

A few days later. I decide to do my last LST session on a plant in very early flower. While trying to bend a branch, I accidently kinked it. So I cut it off, and into the cloner!

So after a week, the veg plant clone has roots (although small). The cutting from the early flower shows nothing, not even bumps to become roots.

This thread also answers the likelyhood of that accident, causing my clones to hermi. So way cool.

I just took numerous cuttings from a Kali Mist and Purple Kush 4 weeks (25 - 28 Dec) into flowering. Yes they take a long time to take root. I wound up with 2 Kali Mist and 2 Purple Kush that are finally starting to look like they will make it. Still have 3 more clones each from Mothers but doubt they will make it although they are still alive. Both mother plants were well stressed from moving from one house to another and different levels of light. Never got much good bud from them. This is the first time I have tried this so will be interesting how they turn out. I hope the PK will do well as this strain is one of the few you have to clone to keep em going.

This thread is sweet. I currently have 17 girls in a bubbler clone and I am waiting for results. Its only been 4 days now but but I have a few cuttings that are from a mother that was put into flower about two weeks ago and hoping for best results. What I noticed about the clones that were in flower is that they look as if they are still growing and the pistils on the few that came from the mother are pretty darn big. Looks cool can't wait to see how they compare with the others.
