    Can we discuss carbohydrates?

    Hello all.
I'd like to get a discussion of carbohydrates going. There are plenty of nutes out there that are either carb synthesizers or sugar-derived supplements.

Some of you make reference to adding various sugars (molasses for example) to your nutrient solutions.

Here's where I'm at so far:

Sugar is a source of carbon, the building block of all organic compounds.

Resin-producing plants need lots of carbon to produce resin containing cannabinoids, a class of aromatic compound (aromatic not simply meaning they are smelly, but that the molecules contain one or more carbon rings).

If Carbon is the limiting factor in how much resin a plant can produce (yes, I know it's strain dependent too, bear with me), how well does the addition of sugar actually work to optimize this process?

Are products such as Sweet effective? Are they more effective than watering with any of the 'grocery-store sugars'?

At what point does the addition of sugars to the soil become harmful to the roots?

Any comments would be appreciated; also, if there is a thread about this somewhere already I'd love to have a look at it. I couldn't find anything specific.

    In my opinion.
Buying some unsulfured black strap mollassas is just as effective as anyone of those products you mentioned.
But my Organic nutes I use has Sugar Cane in it.
So I don't need to add anything for that.

Thank you JDog. Do you suggest an amount or frequency?

about a tablespoon per gallon every watering.
Along with the Alfalfa pellets and maybe get some super Bat tea from Budswel.
    It's High Nitrogen organic Guano.
They have liquid and Powder that you can mix in your soil.
The best veg nutes in my opinion are Pure Blend Pro Grow.
    Or Grow Big from Foxfarm.
    The Pure Blend is organic.
The fox farm is an organic/chemical mix that kicks ass. But it's expensive.
The Pure Blend keeps my plants soo friggin healthy in veg.
I love it. that superthrive and silicate is what I use in veg.

I'm already using fox farm grow big and pureblend bro grow, plus superthrive, plus kelp tea and sometimes fish emulsion.

I hadn't thought of using sugars during veg, only flower... hm.

I'm using sweet with every watering, and i have noticed that my plants are a lot more skunky sweet smelling than usual. A lot more so as a matter of fact. I blow the ventiliation outside, and my house still stinks, this didnt happen before when i didn't use Sweet. I also noticed that I have a lot more resin/trichomes on/around my buds that are extremely sticky. I just seen a ladybug get trapped in the resin the other day lol. So yes, I think Sweet works great. Oh, I use 20ml. per gallon every watering.
