Once you understand why marijuana should not be illegal, you can't stop there. You need to also understand the reasons why it simply can't be legal either. I do agree that our current laws are a bit ridiculous, but Marijuana being completely legal would only result in one thing. Industries and giant corperations taking over the plant, adding whatever (addictive) chemicals to it, and charging however much they want. Look at what they charge for a carton of cigarettes and tell me if you think the production value is anything NEAR that. Its called supply and demand. The demand for the supply of legal marijuana would be so incredibly high if it were deemed legal, since it would therefore be acceptable to be "smoking weed" and everyone would be doing it. If you honestly sat there and thought about it, something like that would change the world as we know it.

Not to mention the fact that even if industries took over, there is NEVER going to be a solution to drug dealing, which is the number one concern when it comes to drugs.. not the posession or use of it, but the intention to distribute that drug to others, which is where the guys getting the hard time in jail were charged with..

Marijuana and MDMA (ecstasy) are the only two drugs that I feel require rescheduling. Both of them were initially outlawed based on what we can consider today to be proven; completely innacurate data. Not to be made completely legal, but to atleast be decriminalized, and legal for private or perscribed use, since both drugs have beneficial medical uses.
