Dude, that's rough.

My dad caught me once. He's real cool, but he was still pissed. He was a hippie back in the day, so he's like "I'm not going to stand here and tell you that I never had any of this stuff, but I regret it and if I had the chance I wouldn't do it again." He promised not to tell my mom if I never did it again. I think his only real problem with me smoking pot is that it's illegal, and he doesn't want me to get into trouble with the law.

here's my humble opinion of the best way to educate parents, just for anyone it might apply too:

be respectful of your parent's house rules, if you're living in their home.

Don't slack at school, if you're in school.

Don't screw up at work, if you have a job.

In short, don't do all the stereotypical fuck-up things that people want to associate with pot smokers. Maybe develop a little class, hold down the job, rock the grade curve... Foresight people. It means not doing the things that are obviously stupid in hindsight.

I got busted at work recently but I think my boss is a st0ner too cause he let it slide. Bummer about your job/parents finding out dude that's harsh. Maybe if you slash his tyres then you'll feel better.

Smoking at work is fun yes but being fired is not cool and it most DEFINITELY kills your high.

Getting angry wont solve anything i smoked last night a little bit of a joint and that help ease some stuff i guess its just the fact that this job had good hours and paid well but hey i made a mistake cant change that so their is no point of being upset over something that is an issue in the past so i got to go foward in my life. I tried telling my parents about NORML and they said that it was just people who smoke weed who want it legalized and i said how can you be so blind its people who want it so they also can get it for health problems i said to my dad " why would god put a PLANT on this earth to have it illegal" his response "why did he put mosquitos" and i said to him so another species can use them just like humans use marijuana.

I smoke once every few months, my parents don't know, but I DO think my dad knows, and if he does, he's semi-chill with it. Again, what many people here have said, don't do anything that will cause your parents to see you as the steriotypical stoner.

No offense or anything, all are welcome in my eyes, but if you only smoke like 3 or 4 times a YEAR, why are you on a cannabis message board?
just curious. And you must have pretty bad luck if you only smoke that much and your dad already thinks you toke up...

If I were you, i'd calmly ask your parents to sit down with you in the living room, SWEAR they'd hear you out and not walk away, listen to your side and you'd listen to theirs. Also, maybe find someone a little quicker witted than you, someone who can defend the stoner's viewpoint fast and strong, and ask them to help you in your parental education.
