    The "When you're pissed" thread

I gotta rant because this past week or so has been going haywire. It starts last Monday when my manager and I had a meeting and he explained that our old team was broken up but him and I would remain to form a new team. So we're in the middle of layoffs and I'm like, "OK, I'm safe". So then on Friday, I get a call from a different manager and she tells me I'm now reporting to her. MmmmmmmmKay. So I find out today that I am in fact on this womans team (she's a micromanager and a kiss ass) and my manager in fact got demoted! So I'm on this new team in an orginization I don't like and the company has frozen transfers so I can't move to a new position. The easy life is over...

Then over the weekend, I'm getting e-mails from friends getting spooked b/c they are recieving e-mails from random users saying such-and-such said that whose-a-ma-call-it could hook them up and apparently my name was used in a few of those 'such-and-such' situations. So I was trying to calm people down and research past messages to figure out who, what, where, and why? Which thankfully, that situation seems to be under control.

So then yesterday, my wife had some appointments so I gave her the car. She picks me up and the oil temp was high. Now, it's Texas...the heat is a bitch out here. BUT...she left the overdrive turned off which means she was riding around in the wrong gear which is what most likely caused the engine temp to spike. So as I'm getting the car home, the temp keeps going up and up and I think we're going to stall. Luckily we made it OK and I think because she was tooling around w/o OD for so long, that was the basis of the problem. Seems to be OK today.

But ya know...I'm trying to get promoted, I'm trying to buy a house, I have an very expanisve medical procedure to pay for (out of pocket), I need to buy a second car, the IRS is holding on to $5000 that belongs to me, the current car needs to go to the shop, my brother is pissing me off, my brother-in-law is one step away from getting beat down...and whenever people in my family have a problem...who do they go to...me.

But I just have one question....when I have these issues...who can I turn to?

The world tries to be organized but fails miserably if one person was the IRS no problem but the fact that you have to go through a thousand people to get shit from the government is ridiculas its like its mine we both know its mine now let me have it.

My friends come to me with their problems and know one listens to me (except lately Ive been fed up and stopped carrying.

That's what I'm saying. All my life, I have always been the focal point, the foundation for my family. I paid the bills, I raised my brother, I took care of the house while my parents drunk their asses off. So no big deal, it made me a very strong and self sufficient person. But it's like I'm at the point where I'm focused on my own life and my wife, but I still get outside interference. And then when I get pissed off, I look like the asshole. But again, I'll listen to everyone and go to great lengths to help anyone. Who's my rock? Who do I turn to when I need a break? Cause right now, I need a serious break. Granted, there are people that are much worse than I am and I'm thankful for having the miniscule issues (aside from the $5000) that I do have. But damn, everyone needs someone to lean on and I'm tired of everyone leaning on me and I get to lean on the wall! I'm only one person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, Big C. My heart goes out to you right now. And I'm feeling guilty for having added to the email volume during the Big Texas Scare.

I think you've just turned to yourself and to cyberfriends by putting all that down and venting it. I hope that helped! Look at it this way, if it helps. You're alive and well and healthy as you face all those other challenges. And you're clearly a competent, capable guy with a good wife. I have this intuitive feeling that the powers that be are going to take care of you because you do such a good job of taking care of your own stuff.

Glad to see you didn't leave, either, Minn!

Yeah. Sometimes strangers are the best comfort. When I was younger and living in New Jersey, I used to go to NY alot b/c of my parents drinking and to deal. I'd end up at Washington Square Park and would just talk to homeless people. I didn't care if they smelled or looked funny, I wanted to know their stories. What happened. And I made friends and they would want to know my story. How come a 15yr old living in Jersey is running around the streets of NY at 1:00 in the morning.

Then last year, my wife and I lost the baby. Oh...My...God!! You want to talk about depression. I was drinking and smoking like there was no tomorrow. I spent my 'grievance' week from work in a chemical fog. One night I broke down and just started writing on this forum I mod at (a technical forum no less) and so many people replied and offered kind words and help.

So I guess I always have felt comfortable sharing things with strangers. It's a give and take...you tell me something, now I tell you something, etc. But I think I just need take some time off and get centered. I haven't smoked in a couple of days and the way I'm feeling, I probably won't for a couple more...gotta get back to 'normal'.

I guess I'll be going to the gun range tonight. That always makes me feel better...things go BOOM!

Men do love to shoot things, don't they! I'm sure that'll make you feel lots better.

You've got a good heart, Big Cal. I happen to think the world of you and wish you only the very best. Wish I could snap my fingers and make everything fall right into place, including snapping a beautiful, healthy pregnancy into y'all's lives.

    Take care, my friend!

I think the only way is to find something else that takes up the time you spend here. That's why I figure I'll be a goner in about seven more weeks when school starts. Until then, I'm not worrying about it.
