Does anyone know...
if marijuana increases your metabolism? I have researched it and I can't find any real answers. Some people say no. Some yes. But I have no clue. The reason I am asking is because I am a skinny pothead trying to gain weight and I'd hate to give up the habit but I'll do what I have to do. Get back at me. Thanks.
btw i am working out and taking protein so don't suggest thatI Love GBs Reviewed by I Love GBs on . Does anyone know... if marijuana increases your metabolism? Everyones body is different. Even if there was hardcore research that suggests that Marijuana affects your metabolism one way or another, your bodys own physiology may react differently. I've gained weight while smoking and I've lost weight while smoking (and excersising). So IMO, there probably isn't much that's conclusive out there.
You sound like my brother...a metabolism that most of us would die for. If you want to gain weight you can try what he did...a glass of vodka and milk every night....I said my piece, so now, I hush.

Exercise is one of the best ways to gain weight if ya need it. Muscle mass weighs more than fat.
Have a good one!

Cut down on most aerobic exercise and start doing some weights. Metabolism slows down at night so try and eat some heavy carbohydrates late at night, combine these two and you will bulk up fast.

hey man i'm exactly the same, embrace your small frame so long as you're healthy. exercising helps a lot, us wee bastards are great for getting deceptively strong and i've a great time surprising big guys by beating them in armwrestling.

News tips from The Journal of Neuroscience
1. Glucocorticoids, Leptin, and Endocannabinoids in the PVN
Renato Malcher-Lopes, Shi Di, Victor S. Marcheselli, Feng-Ju Weng, Christopher T. Stuart, Nicolas G. Bazan, and Jeffrey G. Tasker
Malcher-Lopes et al. provide electrophysiological and biochemical evidence for a signaling pathway that begins with glucocorticoid stimulation of endocannabinoid synthesis via a Gásâ??cAMPâ??PKA pathway, and which is countered by leptin via phosphodiesterase 3B-mediated reduction of cAMP levels. This action takes places in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN). At stake is endocannabinoid-mediated retrograde inhibition of synaptic responses onto PVN magnocellular and parvocellular neurons. The authors show that the action of glucocorticoids is rapid and nongenomic, involving a membrane receptor. The action of leptin involves the Ob-Rb leptin receptor leading through a series of kinases to activation of phosphodiesterase 3B. What are the consequences? Well, in response to fasting, for example, there is a decrease in leptin levels, an increase in glucocorticoids, and activation of CB1 cannabinoid receptors, leading to hypothalamic stimulation of feeding. The signaling pathway outlined by the authors seems well positioned to regulate energy homeostasis, fluid balance, and the stress response.
