A piece of plastic food wrap would be good enough if your ventilation system is good enough. I wouldn't recomend this though. The point is the glass should not get that hot if you do it right, so it won't matter what kind of glass you use. You could use plexiglass if your plants can touch the glass, and they should be able to or you've done something wrong.

I use a 400wt system, and would like to protect the bulb from water when i mist my plants with a sprayer. I am guessing normal glass for a window will prolly not be good enough for the high temps.
