    Your Anti... Your Anti-social?

I do get very antisocial when I blaze, I find conversation confusing and a huge ammount of effort. but otherwise I like to think of myself as a very sociable person. I think being an only child helps because I am never at home I spend most of my time round mates places.

(Hey, I'm writing such a long post because I think I've been having a similar problem and I actually think I've improved dramatically so I hope this helps you)

Reading over your post again I think you should consider quitting draw for a bit. Maybe 2-3 months... I had a similar problem apart from for me it began with alcohol. Ask yourself this question...

Can you have fun anymore without draw(/alcohol/ other drugs)?

I've got mates that are such stoners that all they talk about is drugs. This can be far more offputting than someone who just babbles on about the weather. (Believe it or not the time of your life you had on an acid trip isnt the most interesting thing to everyone else). If I were you I would just tell your friends you want to quit blazing for a bit just to prove to yourslf that your not reliant. But this is just one step and by far not the most important..

I understand what you mean about being anti social because I went through a stage where I found myself sitting mindlessly watching my friends conversations with no interest whatsoever. Next time you go out make a conscious effort to keep conversation flowing and listen to what people say, don't just think about what you want to say next. It may seem tireing but you will get used to it. People know when you listen and acknoledge, look at body language, tilting heads and nodding are commonly associated with understanding. When people think you listen to them and actually care they will open up to you about their real lives and you will quickly move away from small talk.

Another important thing is try not to be passive when going about your day...

constantly look at your surroundings, memorise things... (do you, like me have a shamefully bad memory?) remember people names by the way! This is so important. I can't remember who said this but it is so true... everyone's favourite word is their own name!, comment to yourself and make judgements, watch the news and generally just keep abreast. This will make it a hundred times easier to make conversation and you will feel so much more fulfilled and normal.

    Hope this helps.

PS: You may find this will lead to you moving to a different social circle. I found that it worked much better for me to keep draw as a bit of an "underground" thing. Draw itself may not be a problem but do not let your life revolve around it in any way. I don't really blaze or talk about blazing at big partes or gatherings(it makes me antisocal and I become so boring). I keep blazing for somethng to do with my good mates or just to relax on my own.

...anyone else think I should become a psychologist hehe?

I would say I'm introverted rather than anti-social, but I can get along and have fun with anyone, for the most part.

that is not considered anti-social but would be called self-centered as you are centered on your own thoughts excluding all others. it takes work but you need to open your mind up to others or else you'll greatly limit your life.

please deposit your nickel on the way out...thank you.
