Meh, you're not the only one. My step-dad ran out my mom. Cashed out his retirement benefits and moved to NY. NJ police and courts couldn't do anything. Haven't spoken to him since.

Then my first born died shortly died shortly after birth last year. He'd be just past 1yr old today. When I got my promotion so I could my move to Texas, I had visions of me carrying my boy into the apartment and then finally, into a new house. Instead today, I just did laundry, gotta clean the pad a little, go to the grocery store, and get ready for work tomorrow.

But...my father and I, we've gotten close over the last few years. I missed out on alot with him because of the stupid custody battles and BS. My mother is not a queen either; she sued him for back child pay after I turned 22 and then used the money to buy stuff for herself and her ex-husband (my stepdad)...never mind I was hustlin my ass off trying to pay for college, her bills, and make my grades. But my pops and I are close now. He's probably done more for me in the past 5 years than my mother has in a lifetime. I'm going to call him today. He raised my sisters and I'm sure they have given him a wonderful day. But I think it would just complete anything if I called up and said 'hey'.

Everyone and every family has their issues. Maybe your situation didn't work out...maybe it will later. Or maybe, you will have a chance to become a father and reep the rewards that you can't share with your own.
