James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Willie Nelson.

Willie was on tour at the Fillmore, which my friends operate, and I was invited by a radio personality friend of mine to go have lunch with Metallica at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, in San Francisco, when Metallica was inducted into the SF walk of Fame(like hollywood, but for bay area musicians).
I have toked with less known, but known none-the-less, in the independent music scene. Poormans Whiskey, Todd Snider, Robert Earl Keen, Iris Dement, etc etc....
I gave a joint to Bob Weir(grateful dead) once, back in 1983, but didnt blaze it with him. He was on his way to the airport and was just finishing breakfast in Berkely California, and we were outside burning one. He didnt have time to stay and smoke, but he took one for the road.

I have seen both James and Kirk twice since. Here in San Francisco we have a place at Geary & Van Ness called, Tommys Joint. This is where the band likes to go have eat and have drinks. This is also the place that they told Jason that he was hired as their new bassist. As you know, Jason has moved on and is no longer with Metallica. Kirk likes to go to this little Bagel Shop down in the Marina Distric of San Francisco, close to where he lives. He looks nothing like he does on stage or in magazines. I have some really nice photos that my friend Laura(former ksjo radio personality)took of me and the band.
When she worked at ksjo i would drop her off bags of buds and she would thank me over the radio by saying..." I would like to thank Dr. Greenbud for the wonderful flowers that he dropped by. They smell gorgeous". Dr. Greenbud is what my friends at ksjo called me.
Lamont and Tenelli are now with the BONE(classic rock radio), in SF. Give'em a call and ask them about me. I havent talked to them in a while since i have been busy with my own music and other projects that i have going on, but they know me well.
I'm high and rambling. sorry. This thread just brought up some good memories for me.

    Peace,

    That's very cool, Daima.

Did you have a chance to converse with Willie when you smoked with him, or was it just a sort of perfunctory smoke?

I don't have any famous folks on my list--and frankly, very few non-famous ones, either. But I think Willie might be on my fantasy list of folks I'd like to smoke with. I'd like to ask him some questions about songwriting. Willie. Richard Gere. Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn would be fun stoned, I'll bet.
