Marinol & Drug Tests
I'm hoping someone might be able to answer this question for me. I recently joined a new company which has a policy allowing them to request drug tests. The job is great: good money and good work. So I'm going to accept the position. I'm not sure if the drug tests are random or only done with cause (i.e. you show up to work looking stoned). The way the policy is written, it doesn't say anything about them having randomized drug tests -- just that they can perform them at their discretion.
My only concern is I suffer some wicked migraines that marijuana seems to help. I'm not going to bullshit you, I also do like to smoke recreationally. The migraines are rare (~1/month) so if I have to quit, I will and just deal with the pain/sickness one day a month. My question is: if I can get a prescription to Marinol, for the migraines, will it still allow me to smoke recreationally? Do drug tests distinguish between Marinol and smoked marijuana?
Hope someone can shed some light on this! I did a search already through the forums but there didn't seem to be any conclusive answers. Thanks!glowingone Reviewed by glowingone on . Anyway, hope this helps you. Hopefully someone else can help answer the rest of the question. I'm guessing since Marinol hasn't been around very long, and since it was only recently made Schedule III, allowing it to be given to less critical patients, there probably aren't many who've run into this situation.

it's different in nevada. here the employer must show just cause if they're firing an employee no matter what medication they are legally prescribed. to do otherwise would be discrimination...if i can get my copier set up soon i'll post a copy of the letter employers here are given regarding their licensed med tokers. so far it hasn't been much of an issue as the state won't license anyone on certain medications to drive commercially or do other hazordous work and cannabis and marinol are on that list.

Yes, There are drug test that differenciate Marinol from Cannabis THC.
Whether or not your employer knows this and would know to request it yet another question you will face.
I was prescribed Marinol and i stopped taking it because it just fucked me up more than i wanted to be fucked up. Marinol 2.5 didnt do anything but make my mouth real dry. The 5's made me hungry, but cause a tripping sensation, which i didnt really care for. The 10's? too strong for me. Tripping everyday isnt what i was looking for either. There's nothing like the real thing
Good luck.
