Hi peeps, has anyone used i fire exstinguisher to give there plants co2.Cos i found one on the buildin site im on, and there co2???.I was wondering if i can used this to give to me plants.

I thought of doing that once, but then i thought about it and realized it could also run risk of smothering plants cause so much CO2 at once and it is really cold when it comes out so you risk hurting your plants that way. Never tried it though so who knows, might work.

mr x, if you are lookin for a cheap way to give your plants a bit of CO2 without spending a lot of cash buying a machine and timer and all that crap... just get co2 cartrideges, like the ones for air pistols, and a bike pump nozzle. Check overgrow.com faq section for a better explanation. Peace

Hello,

There are many economical ways to get CO2 to your plants; I personally used these methods long ago with great results, way ahead of CO2 injection at that time....

1 - Channel your hot water heater or dryer (only if they use natural gas) exhaust to your grow room, the by product from burning natural gas is CO2.

2 - Buy one of those propane cylinders and attach a propane gas lantern (camping type) to the cylinder (buy and install a automatic shut-off valve for safety reasons), line the globe on the inside with foil so that unwanted light does not get to your plants if feeding CO2 at night/darkness, light the lantern at the lowest possible setting and wala you have CO2 which is the by product of the propane burning. This woud be used for something larger than a closet and usually last about 5-7 days non-stop or if you run it only when the lights are on... about 2 weeks

3 - For large operations that happen to be using a portable generator (no matter how large), you can get the generator changed over to use propane instead of gas, use all of the exhaust to feed your plants CO2

All i gotta say is i can't believe you even thought about using it. Who ever told you that should be slapped very hard if not just severly beaten. Not only is the co2 so cold and it would harm your plants but its not the only thing thats cold many other flame retardants are in most fire extiguishers not only would you kill your plants but if your growing indoors in a small room with out good ventalation you'd probably kill yourself too. Just dear god please think about things before you try them if you put any thought into it you might relize how stupid it is before you even have to ask.

I have a homemade beer brewing kit in my space. Gives off all the C02 u cud eva want during the brewing process, and there's the benefit off all that lovely ale at the end of the road!!

I didnt think it was stupid,I read an artical on it in High Times.Then i was asking if anybody has done it,just to see if the was any feedback.Got to think of these cheaper alturnatives.

Ok i apologize for calling people and methods stupid. i was just slightly shocked at at the obsurdity of the idea. And truthfully my expience of high times is not a very good one some of their information has been misleading in the past and obviously still is. If you want realy good information for growing bud i suggest buying stealing whatever to get some published books which are without a doubt better than what you can get in a magizine or on the internet i would say Marijuana Growers Handbook by Ed Rosenthal is in your best interest. It talks alot about ways to enhace your plants growth with cheap and easy methods but also expensive and complex methods.

I have read about ways to make cheap homemade CO2. You take an empty milk jub and fill with a good amount of sugar and dissolve that in water. Then you add yeast and that will slowly make CO2. You can cap that off and add a tube from that to wherever you want. That isnt that best way, but it is an easy cheap way to produce some extra CO2.

ive used 2 fire exstinguisher's for my plants........ didnt spray it directly into the grow room... ive a smaller unit on the side of my set up from which the air is pumped in.... sprayed it in there once a day......... my plants loved it and have bloomed nicley........... oh an im havesting tomorrow....... at last hehehe
