how'd it all start

I started drinking at 18, just at parties and such. I used to be the most adamant anti-cannabis person there could be. I'd yell at my friends (even disown them) and was a total dick.

When I turned 19, I became a bit more open minded becasue I was in college. My views shifted from "WTF, CANNABIS BAD!" to "It's ok if you smoke, but I don't want to be involved." One of my close friends got a job at my work and recently began a relationship with what is now his ex-GF. She got him to try cannabis and later he asked me several times to smoke, all of which I turned down. By that time the curiosity I had was full blown, I was fascinated. I got drunk at a party, and a good friend I hadn't seen in a long time said I should try cannabis. I was drunk, I was already curious, so I was like, "Sure, why the hell not!" (And they say cannabis is a gateway drug?!)

I smoked, the first time killed my drunkeness (but it could have all been in my head). The second and third times I tried it, nothing happened. Suddenly, on my fourth time, I lit up a blunt with a couple friends on a cliff overlooking a valley and that did it =) I was so blazed, it was great. That's my story =P

my parents were giving me alcohol since I was four for "special occasions". That was my first drug.

my dad is an alcoholic so ive never been attracted to the bottle, always too scared. started smokin herb in high school, peer pressured but kept doing it because it was fun. eventually my mom had surgery and have been on pharms for the last few years so i havent been a fan of them either. lately pharms have failed where cannabis succeeds. my moms in the middle of getting a medicinal recommendation now.

over the years ive just grown more and more into a conasiuer for glassware and herb. ill stick with weed since i have seen what the popular legal alternatives can do for me...

Yeah, that played a role in it for me also. Both my parents were serious drinkers and I said I would never end up like that. To this day, I still do not like beer (my stepdads drink) and have never had Southern Comfort (my moms drink). Then what solidified it for me was that I'm more productive being a smoker than my parents ever were being alcoholics. Figure that.
