I don't think you should root gel. Flush, change, and pray for the best. Then again, I've never tried it, so what do I know? (ooooh deja vu). The roots of the plants grow deeply. When you discourage the growth of the roots, you're also discouraging the growth of your plant.

Anyhoo, as for the water, I don't think it was a stupid question. It does make sense that it could make a difference, I just don't think it would, just by considering what flavors the water (most likely some form of citric acid) and how that would directly affect the plant, you know, make it more acidic, though probably slightly.

I don't doubt that you read two books. However, ebooks tend to... lack. Trust me. I should be the poster-boy for that. When you put them in HPS switch to 12/12. The HPS doesn't make the plant flower, it encourages the flowering process by providing the end of the light spectrum which the plant will use during flowering (did that make sense?). Vegetation for two months is fine, though. People keep mothers in vegetative for years.

All in all, I'd say just keep at it. The grow faqs are incredible, really, and really read them, don't just skim. I'm not trying to lecture you or anything, but when you're dealing with HIDs especially, you're gonna wanna know everything you can.
