Weed and Diabetes
I have Type I diabetes, and I was wondering if smoking marijuana would have any different effect on me than a person without diabetes would have. Would it raise or lower my blood sugar?

my wife has type 2 diabetes and if I'm remembering right, cannabis has no effects on blood sugars itself.its your own personal eating habits,as you already know that affects blood sugar levels.you really need to get more responses on thistho'.

I have a friend who smokes weed and has diabetes. For him, it does effects his levels, and he's very careful at how much he smokes. He maintains tho, he always checks his levels after he finishes smoking, and if I remember correct (you would know better) he would eat sugar to raise his levels, and do something else to lower them. Sorry this is kinda 2rd hand information lmao.

I don't think it actually affects your blood sugar. From a couple of my friends who have diabetes, they say (from what they've read and experienced) that it has a positive effect on their insulin resistance so that they don't have to use as much of it, therefore possibly lowering their medical bills.
I've never read any study myself, though. If I come across something while reading about cancer patients and cannabis (for myself) I'll make sure and add it.You never know what a medicinal plant is until that plant becomes medicine to you.

I have type 1 diabetes too. ALWAYS check blood sugar levels regularily before/during smoking.
Trust me, weed + hypos / low blood sugar = not good. The last time that happened, I was tripping but not in a good way. I didn't know who I was or what I was doing. Thats how bad it was. Just keep an eye on blood sugar levels, keep some sugary foods with you and you should be fine.

It has been shown to lower blood sugar levels.
I wrote this down on a pad:
"Some anectodal evidence that cannabis lowers blood sugar.
-AIDS + Cancer patients, among other Cannabis users, often report an increase in apetite after consuming Cannabis, and a few reports indicate that smoking Cannabis can lower blood sugar in diabetes."
I don't know where I found that, though.
I had crossed out "Insulin is excreted from the beta islet cells of the pancreas."

weed does lower your blood sugar so you have to be careful, my dad smokes weed and hes a diabetic (hes got glacoma too), so just munch out on some food and drink lots of orange juice or coke and you should be good.
