I was informed just a little while ago that my friend passed away last night in his sleep. His wife was with him.

Evidently he has known for awhile that this was coming and never told anyone, not even his wife or parents. He didn't want them to be overly worried. So while this was very sudden for all of us, he's had this burden on his shoulders for several weeks and kept it to himself.
