    MYLAR PASTED TO DRYWALL?

ok, this is probably a stupid question, but as I have never grown, I am curious what the heck the purpose of this is, the mylar etc... Please excuse my ignorance.

mylar is reflective, more so than white paint.

    MYLAR PASTED TO DRYWALL?

personally, I would NOT use drywall behind your Mylar ... I was going to do that too, but then I remembered how sensitive drywall can be about moisture and humidity ... plus, then the mildew gets ahold ... I wound up using fairly cheap waferboard, a plywood-type material (avoid particle board, as it really sucks when wet, too) ...
glue doesnt work worth a damn on Mylar, so I just tore off small pieces of white duct-tape, and stapled thru that ... :smokin:

Use the plywood if cost is an issue. The loctite bonds to anything including MDF and mylar.

greenboard is ideal for bathrooms, kitchens and basements. handles moisture better than the standard gypsum drywall but if you plan to get it wet, you should use concrete backerboard which is what they use behind tile in bathrooms and kitchens.

    MYLAR PASTED TO DRYWALL?

I used spray glue to hang my mylar. It was very handy and works great. It has been hanging on both drywall and particle board for about 3 years now with no problem. Of couse plywood is a better choice if you plan on spilling water on it, but plywood is more expensive than particle board. If you really want to go all out use marine grade plywood, but why bother with that on walls? Maybe on something more likely to get wet.

Oh yeah, I also use contact adhiesive. I'm not talking about the grade school kind, but the professional kind used bond laminate to counter tops. This too works great, but is not as easy as spray glue. Both are at Home Depot.
