    what kind of lights

I dont know where you're going to find 50-watt fluorescent tubes ... no such thing, as far as I know ... 4-footers are commonly 40 watts, and eight-footers are 80 watts ... GE Cool Whites provide your 'blue' spectrum for vegging, and GE Kitchen & Bath are 'red' spectrum, for flowering ... find them at WalMart for about $7 a pair ... :smokin:

There are some bad-ass big flouros designed just for vegging. I saw them at a hydro store, but I don't know if they would work any better than a bunch of regular ones.

the only 'big' wattages I have ever seen are in the CFL-style, not the tubes ... I might be missing something, where are you seeing those ? ... the T5 tubes have supposedly more output, but don't seem worth the big price difference, when you take lumens into account ... I just use the cheaper T12s ... :smokin:

Hmm,my dad says he can get them cheap from matesrates, he told me the 4ft and 5ft flo tubes (im gettign 4ft now,5ft too big) are the same amount of power... both 50w and are same price (because they sell more 4fts than 5fts)

arent flo tubes good for flowering??, not even 2 50w'ers?

I remember the day of my first ever grow! It was in my closet with flo's.I used flo's from start to finish! Sep,I used the wide spectrum when I flowered.Pretty good to be a rookie! 2 plants I got 3ounces.I thought that was good too!
