No not really. If you did it alot it can cause hermies. Bad storms knock us out for 1 hour a couple times and I have seen no difference.

No, it's better they get longer in dark then longer in light, specially if they are flowering, just dont be makin a habbit of it.

hermies? does that mean i should keep them on 24/0 until im ready to switch to 12/12? ive been keeping my sprouts on 18/6 religiously...
plus, sometimes when i have to leave for a long time, i turn half the lights off until i get back so i can rest my head somewhat on the 'fire issue'... is that detrimental?

keep them on an 18/6 schedule and then when it;s flower time make sure you have no interruptions cause you need a 12 hours on 12 off cycle for them to build up their reproductive hormone. If light gets in durong the dark half then it will destroy the hormone or cause it to go back to veg and possibly stress it and hermi it (where it shows male and female parts)
