My grow plans, help needed*
Hello everyone, some people might know who I am, usually quiet and roam these forums more than I post. I read a good deal of info from all the experts here who helped others and watched 4 different videos on how to grow, so I'm pretty ready. My budget on this grow set-up is around $600-700USD. Below is the set-up I'm striving to go for that was inspired by the "I Grow Chronic" video(recommended). I'm going for how he had it set-up except with the hydro part, going to use soil first round. I just made the picture below to give you guys a visual of how this is going to be set up. The red lines/wavy lines represents the light proof plastic walls that I'll be hanging up. The silver lines represent where the mylar will be placed, will probably cover more area with it. I believe the rest is self-explanatory. The plan is to get 10 female seeds of the strain grapefruit and keep a mother with the best genetics. I will than keep this mother alive for as long as possible grabbing clones from it every so often to keep a coninuous cycle going. The rest that will germinate will just be flowered, around 6-8 plants while the mother stays in the veg room. I'm wondering what you guys would recommend for floro lights for that veg room for the mother and seedlings. And also I'm thinking of going with a 1000watt HPS light system for the flower room, any recommendations? The next thing is the soil, I wanna go organic and heard great things about foxfarm. How much soil will I need for the first run at growing 7-9 plants? What all do I need for nutrients, and what brand do you recommend? Also with the foxfarm soil, should I buy perlite and mix it in, or is that already mixed in the ingredients? Don't count the 2x4 frame I'm going to make into the $600-700 budgets as I'm going to try to get some from free from friends. Do you guys believe I can achieve this set-up with the $600-700 budgets including everything from the lights to timers? If anyone doesnt believe so I would really appreciate and educated guess on the total amount of $ that is needed to pull this set-up out. Thank you to everyone who read this whole, post, probably the longest I've written!

hey bro. Ive seen ya around :} Ive also seen the video. very cool vid.
Im on my first grow now. So I can only give ya so much advice. But here goes. Oh btw. look in my sig for my first grow/log.
Anyhow... I used one bag of foxfarms oceam mix. for only 6, 2 gallon pots. Had a bit extra. but still. So I would say.. depending on ur pot size. I go with 3 bags or 2 on the conservative side.
I didnt mix anymore perlite or anything in. The foxfarms ocean mix has excelent dranage. almost too good imo. Im watering each day with my 2 gal pots.
Also. Id say 700 USD wont cut it. IMO. Once u start buying, u will see it adds up alot. for ur two part setup id say u can do it cheaply for a bit over a grand. and thats pushing it. I know others can do it cheaper prob, but I too thought it would be much cheaper. But then again, I tried to use all my cash to attempt to do it right, as not to be discouraged. CRAP hope im doing it right hehe
it seemed like everytime i went to buy/need something, it was 100 USD. and that adds up fast. ph tester,soil,lights, ballasts, mylar,lightining,ph up, ph down, reflective tape, poly, carbon filter, can fan, squirlcage, more reflective tape, wood or pvc, screws, hygrometer/thermomenter, batteries, more reflective tape, power strips, timers, bug spray, neem oil, twist ties for LST, cameras for pics, more batteries, more reflective tape :}
Im not at all trying to discourage anyone. But it adds up if u wanna do it right. But honestly... look at my grow log. read it. and look at my budget, I posted it. YOU CAN DO IT. thats my point, cause im on my way. 2 weeks into flowering. and if i can do it.. u can.
p.s. the setup looks good. think about smell controll and ventilation/heat. those will be ur two biggest enemies.

I hope you didn't acount the two by fours in the final price as I'm going to try and find them for free. Any more suggestions would be much appreciated, and I'm looking forward to getting help from you experts out there once I start my new favorite hobby

Thx for checking :} Im just a proud pappa showing off his children hehe.
But ya, Ill be here for ur grow log giving ya all the help I can. plz do a log :}
And i didnt exactly account for the 2x4. But I was just listing all that crap to show u that there are probabbly little things that u and others dont think about and figure in. I did this, and I ended up speanding alot more than I thought I would.
Also u can buy zipppers for ur grow rooms. They stick on then u cut, then its a cool zipper. instead of doing the way the video did.
Another thing.. get a good carbon scruber with can fan. I payed like 300 or something. maybe it was 2 something. But still. it was expensive. but worth it.

Hey t3ch, glad to see you're also joining the growing community. Now mate, 1000$ will run you your setup that you want. With it you can find a 400w MH(Metal Halide) light to keep your mother plant alive and be able to re-veg fast enough to take clones off her monthly. Also, how many clones do you plan on taking from 1 mother plant, if it's more than 5-6 I would suggest growing 2 mothers. For your clone box where you plan to force flower(wich I assume) I would highly suggest a 4-600w HPS(High Pressure Sodium) with a hortilux bulb (they put out more spectrum). I personally have not used fox farm soil, but I have herd great things from members here @ CDot. Also you might want to invest into a AirCooled hood for your HPS/MH or pick up 2 really cheap 125CFM Fans or each box. As bob said, your $$ is going to rack up, but if you're going to push some of these clones off for some cash you could do real well.

And you suggest 400-600watt over a 1000watt even though the prices are about the same? Is this cause I don't need the 1000watts if i'm on a budget and to save on the electric bill? Also you are right, I will need two mothers, don't know why I said one, lol.

mate thats a nice tliitle grow setup ur putting together there , i reckon ur 700 bucks will take u most of the way there. u have keeps to the basics to u are truely up a running . make the most of ur space to mate .. in ur vegging room put a shelf in it so u can veg mothers in the bottom and clones in the top . if ur going to use a 1000 to flower then i suggest u get loads of ventilation too cuz that baby can throw out alot of heat . the main to parts to my grow setup for to make it work properly are ur lights and ur fans. i have just recently rebuilt my own set up ... here are a few pics and stats about hte room. both rooms 4x4x8 flowering room( on the left) 2 x 600 watt dual spec hps, 125mm ruck inline extractor fan and a 125mm cann carbon filter, 7" inch fan blowing over the plants and a 4" intake fan supplying freshair into the box. vegging rooms bottom half 400 watt strip floros top half 400 watt DS hps ruck fan and can filter 4 " intake and 7 inch fans in both
