The test was administered on May 31 using some leg hairs (bald and otherwise hairless). I hear that the cut off level is .5 ng/ml..what does this actually mean in terms of consumption. If I hadn't smoked for 3 months and 2 weeks prior to the test what kind of number should I have in terms of ng/ml. Thanks for the help...

That means that a detectable level of THC metabolites in hair is 1/2 of a nanogram per milliliter. A nanogram is a billionth of a gram. Milli=thousandth=.001
micro=millionth=.000001
nano=billionth=.000000001
In other words they can detect 1/2 of a billionth of a gram per thousandth of a liter....pretty good test, I'd say!
Essentially, it means that hair does in fact have a permanent memory.
The good news is that leg hairs are short and ALL hair is replaced on a reguar basis. If 3.5 months is enough time to clear THC from your leg hair would be pretty tough to say. Just to be on the safe side I'd wax my entire body before the test. You said you were already bald and basically hairless, right? Tell them it's a genetic anomoly and they are welcome to your blood, pee saliva instead.(These are all completely clear after 3.5 months away from even heavy smoking.)
