you want your ph to be 6.5-7 for soil.5.5-6 is for hydro.if you lower your ph to 5.5-6 in soil you will kill your plants.your second question could be alot of things a pic would help.

I know for large scale farms they use elemental sulfur, but I wasn't sure if that was the proper way. And would that be causing the plant to look lighter in color and start to yellow in some places?
