received response letters from my Congresspeople ...
so we know who's on our side of the medical marijuana issues ... I just received two responses concerning letters I wrote to two prominent Congresspeople from California ... remember, CA is pretty much the forefront of pot activism ..
Senator Barbara Feinstein, Democrat-CA, responded with a 'form letter' stating her position on medical marijuana as being permissible for Cancer and AIDS 'ONLY' ... she was quite firm about this .. (notice she is coddling her gay San Franscisco constituency) ... and this, from a Democrat liberal who is 'on our side' ??...I dont think so ...
U.S. Representative Wally Herger, Republican-CA, responded with a two-page letter that actually looked like it had been typed, had a much better look than the typical 'form letter' ... anyway, although Congressman Herger was totally against medical marijuana, and touted repeatedly the "you already have Marinol to use" ... (thanks Wally, maybe you can afford that shit, I can't) ... I will say that Herger's reply was very well researched, obviously he put a LOT of effort into preparing that response letter ... this is what we're up against ...
Write your elected officials !! ... tell them what you want in an intelligent letter ... remember the old saying .. "keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer" ... the only thing these vultures understand is VOTES and CASH ... since most of us are light on cash, we need to let them know what we expect from them ... they don't want to lose votes, that means they might have to get a real job ! ... :smokin:the image reaper Reviewed by the image reaper on . received response letters from my Congresspeople ... so we know who's on our side of the medical marijuana issues ... I'm a prescribed Med-user, and I'm not hiding behind anything, I'm using the only method we have, so far, to use what works for me ... I personally would love to see MJ fully legal for over-21 users, just sell it in shops like we do liquor ... but, you have to start somewhere ... I've been closely following the 'legalize pot' movement since the mid-1960s, and I'll take it as I can get it ... (if Keith Stroup of NORML, hadn't lost his mind in the 70's and decided to include Cocaine along with pot, for legalization, it would probably be legal today) ... that memory is why I am firm about keeping pot in its own class, separate from other drugs ... Mr. and Mrs. America freaked out when pot heads suddenly wanted to legalize coke, too ... :smokin:

I take medical users (I have my own alternative uses) at face value and assume getting high is a nice benefit...
And the 1999 National Academy of Sciences report, with several conclusions pointing to medical benefits or additional study, was essentially ignored by the FDA on, let's see, the politically neutral date of 4/20
Does it really take more research to conclude that weed stimulates appetite? My refrigerator says no...:thumbsup:Those are my principles. If you don\'t like them I have others. -Groucho Marx

Parallel Universe123, couldn't agree more. "Big Pharma" may sound like a conspiracy theory but it's not. You can find their dirty fingers all through anti marijuana legislation. Our government lawmakers and our system have been subverted through campaign contributions, a process that has steadily gotten worse for the last 50 yrs. Not just marijuana prohibition but almost every other issue as well.
Until we clean up Washington with some enforced campaign finance reform we will continue to have problems just like this. Pretty sad when the only thing we can count on our government for is to tax us, not do what's in our best interests and to make an utter shambles, through gross incompetence, of every important issue that concerns us today.
Think about it. If marijuana didn't give people a buzz then it would have disappeared from the earth. It makes me wonder how much crap they've dished us out in some corporate interests name that we didn't catch. Kind of scary.

Anyway, I think people should listen to Myth because this is how the politicians think. They think that there's no medical benefits and we're just potheads trying to look for an excuse to get high.
I agree that hiding behind this excuse is gonna do nothing.
Why does Herder keep saying that we already have marinol to use? Because these people believe that it has the medical effects of weed (and probably mostly added stuff or just entirely new stuff since they think weed has no medical benefits in the first place) EXCEPT you don't get high/stupified from typical weed effects.
These people enjoy pharmacy drugs because the drugs do one main thing: cure you. I guess you're saying by now that pharm. drugs suck and have bad side effects..
Really, do enough people suffer from the negative side effects of pharmacy drugs? I've NEVER encountered bad pharmacy drug side effects in my whole life. The only person I know who has is my mom after taking countless meds for her flu.
If people cure themselves with weed, then they're cured but then they are just high and can't do anything. If we had a law that permits them to smoke to cure their pain, then they could do it anywhere whenever their pain comes (or they could just lie). This means they can be high and go to work and mainly be slow and fuck up.
If people use Marinol instead, then they are cured AND can still function normally.
I think weed should be legalized for medical purposes because I strongly disagree with what people like my friend who say that all the test patients are just lying and wanna get high. There's a ton of diseases out there that patients claim that weed will cure. You can't just throw away that info and say that ALL these fucking ill people are lying so they can get high! That's just a very fast naive assumption and pure blasphemy.
Another thing my friend said that pissed me off is that we should just throw away the plant without bothering to study it because he literally strongly believes there are no medical benefits and it's just a useless drug that this country doesn't need.
I think it would be a very naive idea to throw away a plant that may have medical effects on people.
What's this talk about weed curing cancer btw? Just in case it's true-- WHAT IF in the far future doctors/scientists discover how to take the cancer curing part of weed and make it into a pill. We would have a simple fucking cure to cancer all in just a pill. How dare people like my friend wants to throw away weed and never bother to study it. It's a plant and many plants have incredible discoveries in them. Yet the government actually prohibits positive studying of weed unless it's about bad side effects that they can feed to the public as propaganda!
I'm for medical marijuanna because it is not worth the risk for people who may actually need it. It is pure fucking blasphemy to say that EVERY fucking patient is lying or just wants an excuse to get high. What if Marinol or other drugs don't work for the sick?
C-mon stoners, get your heads outta your asses. Myth may act like a cop sometimes, but as cops learn from us, we should also learn from them.
btw, my girlfriend's mother now has back problems and cannot work anymore so now my girlfriend (poor foreign family that can barely afford expensive medicine btw) has to work extra hours to keep the family stable.. If weed was legal for medical use, then she could be taking it, but now she's in fucking horrible screaming pain all the time and my gf is very depressed which makes me depressed for her.
All cause fucking people like the politicians think that we're just potheads who just wanna get high.Originally Posted by BlazinTreesX3

More stuff:
How do we counter people showing up to work high as a motherfucker if medical weed is legal? I can't answer that one. And that is why they prefer pharmacy drugs. Because it cures you but still be able to function normally.
Another thing. If medical weed stays illegal, politicians think that this will help keep it off the streets in case medical users become dealers or whatever possible situation.
Achem, Half-Baked comes to mind.
C-mon guys, you gotta think like a cop/politician to answer your own questions!Originally Posted by BlazinTreesX3

I wrote to TN congressman Jimmy Duncan-Republican.
he was just like, "i was a criminal court judge.... it's a gateway drug" and drugs are bad for teenagers... I lost a little bit of respect for him. it seems like every year the gateway drug argument is disproved. and the NIH has repeatedly proved that marijuana isn't bad. Unless by bad he means it has a side effect (short term memory loss). but then all Rx drugs are bad too...
