Newbie DWC hydro grower 1st grow

Hey well yes I am a newbie just wanted to share my logs with you guys

this is going to be start to finish with a strain called molokai snow.

Anyways I am using a dwc/bubbler system and right now i am on day 2 after germination. The seeds are in peat pellets and in a humidity container under 24/0 100w cfl. My pots are just 9 oz cups drilled out with alot of holes, they have a mixture of 50/50 perlite/peat moss. the tanks are 2 10gallon fish tanks that are blackened out top to bottom.i am also using a 50gallon pump with a 10" airstone in each, ive got the water all setup waiting for the roots to start popping outta the pellets. The ph for my water is at 5.8 - 6.0. I also have a exhaust fan for the grow box and the temp rangers from 77-89 with 50-65% humidity. Also i dont have a hydro store around me or anywhere close to me so I am just using some basic home depot/ace supplies that will make this grow a lot more interesting for me, and also when the plants do begin to flower i have a 250w hps light.

well thats all for now ill will take pictures when the roots start showing through the pellets and its time for me to transplant them.

just make sure never to wash solution through your homemade netpots...you do not want peatmoss in your rez.
    lw

matter of fact...you would be better with just perlite...in DWC

damn on another board the "expert" told me that perlite wouldnt be strong enough to hold the plant so to mix in some peatmoss, is there any truth to this? sorry im still a newb trying to get information.

I personally think there is little to no merit in that 'expert' opinion.
I only use 100% perlite and haven't come across any problems.
If you are using a HID light then cover the medium with that panda plastic or something to prevent algae growing on the top.

If you can't get hydrotron. Get some cheap lava rocks for a gas grill and bust them up a little with a hammer. Then rinse them off good. Sphagnum moss would be better than peatmoss. Slowes carries it, it's cousin to spanish moss but takes alot longer to breakdown. And won't wash down in your rez. It holds water about like rockwool. Or just go with perilite your better off.

If you actually get a plant big enough to tip over...gently
tie it up. No big deal.

Perlite is a tried and true medium...It is considered by many to be the best medium, although i believe hydroton to be the King of medium...hope this helps..good luck lw

thanks well im going to wash out the peat moss now (waste of $5) but since im rooting the plant in the peat pellets do i have to wash it all off then plant it in the perlite or can i just use that little peat inside the perlite?

Wash them off gently. The pet pot will split and be in your rez. I was going to do the same but it seems like I'm stuck on rockwool right now. I'm trying to go with a bubbler cloner and do away with any of that just straight hydrotron.

use the peat with some 1.99 dollar store soil and grow a couple extra in pot...no waste...lw
