Dont know anything about foliar feeding, apart from the best time to do it is when your light has just come on as the stomata on the underside of the leaves are more open. I think with foliar feeding, you dont need to make the solution as strong, although someone may want to correct me. If you do need to make it half strength, remember to ALWAYS start off lower. So if you use 10ml in soil, use 5ml for foliar and then halve that again. Depending on how it responds, either weaken it, stop using it or slowly strengthen it.
The good thing about foliar feeding is that you can manage nutrient intake a little more closely. If you feck something up in soil, you have to flush and transplant into new soil. If you feck something up in hydro, you have to empty out all the water and refill (well, I think anyway. Im sure theres a technical term for this apart from 'empty out' and 'feck up'). If you feck something up via foliar feeding, then you just stop. You cant foliar feed a plant throughout its entire life though.

Oh, and I wouldnt use a normal spray bottle. Get a decent one from a hydro store - the water particles come out finer, so they stay in the air longer and the plant can absorb the nutes better. A real good one costs around £10/$20

The only real advice I can give you that will hopefully help is to get a decent squirter from a hydro store, and give it a try. Remember to start off at half strength though, and see how the plant responds.
