Anti-stretching
i have four plants under floro and instead of having a normal problem (at least i'm thinking its a problem) my plants arent stretching. I have four/five nodes and the plants are maybe four/five inches tall....theres basically little to no space between nodes.....i kept the top light within an inch the whole time and have been moving it up.....i have side lights on either side of each pot but i dont think that would do it.
is it a problem or am i just being paranoid?
by the way they look amazing other than that...the growth OUT is freaking me out...i'm just worried that my girls arent going to be as leggy as they need to be.JakeTheCorgi Reviewed by JakeTheCorgi on . That really is a problem alot of new growers would love to have!
I assume your using flouros if you have them within an inch, but what wattage?
How old are the plants and what strain if it wasnt bag seed?

the plants are close to a month old and the two really booming plants are NL the other two not far behind are WW.....all four were fem seeds. The bulbs are 60w a piece and right now theres six......more to come of course but....i guess what i'm asking is....if i just keep vegging them like this....will i run into any flower problems?

No, you'll have a great cola.
It's the perfect thing to happen.
You'll have a stem FULL of bud, and it wont be shit and all popcorn buds.
This is a very good thing, leave it like this.

i for once agree with lip . the reason ur plants havn't grown is cus the don't need too. also i find that taller plants normally end up being males anyway . remember but, when u do go to flower them they will at least double in height.
if ur living on a prayer... ur living on your knee\'s..... no fear

continue to keep the lights as close to he tops of your plants as possible... less than 1 inch...
they will stretch... congrats.. sounds like you have a female indica!.... you should consider cfl sidel lighting in the next couple days....
if you are not going to clone your plant... you should also consider flowering NOW...

interesting idea garden.....why would flowering now be more productive than letting it veg out for a longer?
anyway...thanks to all....I'm really excited about this....very first grow and as of now....its far out
just a side note to other beginners....I started watering with just tap water (no ph or anything) and they seemed to be drinking it but not liking it....I started with jugs of distilled from walmart and they eat it up.....I've only given nutes one time (some fish and some orchid) but with the distilled its going a lot better. I didnt think so at first, but its become apparent that ph'd water is crucial.

I guess the main question i have now is....
Is it practical to LST now? I had it in my mind that i was going to LST all of them and give them a good thorough vegging but if they're staying this squat, would the difference be noticeable?
And another question is when they say that LST promotes 'secondary growth' what does that mean exactly....because my bottom leaves are growing out fine, pretty much equally if not more than the vertical growth, but at the point where the branch meets the stem there are a whole slew of other leaves coming through.......is this the secondary growth that i need to promote, or are the fan leaves at the bottom just supposed to get bigger?

Sounds like you got lucky. Don't LST. It's more for sativas you want to keep short. Promtes secoundary growth, that's everything below the top cola. It's all the branches.
