Catalyst Heaters for cheap CO2 in small grow rooms?
Thanks for the words of encouragement.. I used the CO2 glass tube with the syringe to get a rough callibration of the digital meter and it appears to be accurate. I put the burner in the room and ppms stabilized at 3000ppm recirculating the atmosphere with the burner on.. which i used a glass tube CO2 test to verify.
The same tube method and digital meter read 1400ppm when circulating with outside air for 1hr.
My ambient CO2 levels with no enrichment are 1800ppm in recirc and 1400ppm while circulating outside air through. I dont know if its that high because I live in a manufacturing town or what but those levels are so high it does not seem to be worth the effort to raise them any more.
Zandor- I listened to your podcast and it was awsome! Loved the "what if god smoked cannibis" song! haha

Catalyst Heaters for cheap CO2 in small grow rooms?
All right guys I need some expert advice, I just bought a Coleman perfectemp sportcat which is 1000 BTU. I also got a converter and attached it to a 30 lb. propane tank. I was wondering how many times a day I should leave it on and for how long in order to add CO2 to my environment? My grow space is about 196 cubic ft. and 28 sq. ft. The dimensions are 3.5 ft wide by 8 ft tall by 7 ft long. I have a Conair evaporative air cooler in front of one of my bedroom windows blowing cool air in and a 6 in. inline 440 cfm fan exhausting air off the lights attached to the tops my hoods. Anyone know how I should go about using my propane heater to increase CO2?
Heres a link to the propane heater itself:

with such a small heater and so much air exchange I believe you may wish to run the heater for the entire light cycle. My testing indicated that even in a 5x5x7 sealed room (sealed is a relative term.. it wasnt sealed very well, just didnt have any intake and exaust) I could often run my heater constantly without exceeding 2000ppm and the limiting factor to operation became room temps.
Hope this helps!
