That's how I felt after my first time with plain-leaf salvia. I felt inexplicably clam and well at-ease for a while afterwards, despite the weirdness of the effects.

There is nothing to fear from salvia. Even though she produces the strangest sensations, there is no physical harm to come from it and if you just let go and relax, letting the effects be what they are without fighting it, you will experience very strange benefits that are difficult to explain. It's weird, the fear thing is always there, but soon you realize that salvia can't possibly harm you.

I'm not sure how helpful this trip is compared to other substances, since it's so far away from your everyday experience. It's like there's nothing to take back with you. But I like how it instantly presents such a complete "other" picture of reality, with no transition period in between. It's like you suddenly wake up in the middle of it, with no memory of having smoked anything, no memory of who you are or what you're actually doing, just a straightforward acceptance of being in the middle of it already. On subsequent outings, it seems like you never really left. It's just like a bizarre dream state, which you can't translate into normal language because it operates by a different logic. There is nothing good or bad about it, because those concepts don't apply. And there is something valuable about that experience.
