Fertilizer...

Hi,

After talking to a few people, I noticed I should start using fertilizer. My plant is magic bud paradise and its been growing for about 3-4 weeks now. I was told to use a nitrogen based fert. Right now at my house I found something called:

Schultz: 19-31-17

and

Vigoro: All Purpose Plant food 19-6-12

Any of these good for me right now? Let me know. Thanks

Go with the Vigoro using a 1/4 to 1/2 of the recommended dosage.
Then use the Schultz when you switch to 12/12 and start to see buds developing.

The fert I have are like little balls. It says to just sprinkle some on the top of the soil, is that ok? I thought I had to mix it with water. But I guess this is fine too?

I guess this would be fine but I thought the whole point of ferts were to get to the roots and feed the plant from the roots to the inside? I dont know if the balls will do anything..maybe when you water the shit from the balls will go to the roots along with the water xD. I dont know, but eh..yea. I would get some liquid ferts.

Whoa, PKash - is it time released? If so, stay away. If it dissolves in the water no problem and is actually a fertilizer you're suppose to dillute, use it.

I accidentally bought a bottle of time released stuff you mix into the soil when I first started growing. Bad idea. Never have I even touched the stuff to begin with.

BUT, some people do have luck with time released ferts. I just prefer to know exactly what my plant is getting and when. :smokin:

What kind of fert should I use, that I can get from local stores like walmart home depot etc.. Any ideas? the numbers and the brand new.. thanks!!

During veg, you're going to want a higher nitrogen ratio. (nitrogen being the first number - 5-1-1)

They sell this great stuff at wal-mart called Alaskan Fish Emulsion. Smells like complete and utter ass and I wouldn't under any circumstances leave any of it laying around my house mixed with water.

What I'm saying is don't store it.

It's 5-1-1 perfect for veg.

Hey I asked some people at school today who have grown weed, and they told me that I shouldnt use fertizilier because when u smoke it, its bad for u and shit.. is that true? He told me he just used water and light and he got nugs.

Your school friends are wrong. The plant wouldn't grow properly without nutrients.
Your friend was probably growing in a potting soil that has sustained release fertilizer or in the ground.
Organic and chemical nutrients act differently. Organics need to be broken down by the soil micro organisms before the plant can uptake them. Chemical nutrients are absorbed by the roots without the requirement of being broken down.
If you flush your plant with plain water for the last couple of weeks then it will be as clean if not cleaner than anything you would normally buy. Some growers don't flush at all.
Just get yourself an all round 100% organic liquid fert. Use 1/2 the dosage that the product recommends.
Something is better than nothing.
