Discussion on how it feels to be high (philosophical, observations)
How exactly do you feel when you get high? Discuss what happens to your psyche, etc. We all know we get hungry and laugh when we are faded, but what exactly changes in your mind that makes the world seem so different?
I smoke every day. On week days I usually just smoke a bowl, and I get in somewhat of a comfort zone. I get very focused. When I am sober, my mind will become distracted by anything; any thought will come up and I have trouble focusing on something like a homework assignment or a movie. When Im high, i can focus directly on something. I smoked a bowl at school on Friday and went back to class and began to study my vocab list; I aced the test next period. I was only looking at my vocab list, and didn't feel the need to be bothered by anything else. My mind becomes more radical, it uses stranger methods to express itself. I think of more grotesque and repressed thoughts when I am high, my superego doesn't kick in and make me feel guilty and restrict me from exploring arears of my mind like it does when I am sober.
Then there is that next level of high. I get even more introverted. I feel like I am in my own world, I seclude myself and have fun doing something mindless such as eating. I will look at my food and eat it, and just think of nothing. I'll catch myself thinking of nothing, too. Again, thoughts and fantasies become vivid, especially scenarios. I can sit down and just think of a story for a long period of time, and it will be as entertaining as actually reading a novel. I become the character. That's all in my mind.
Then, you start to get real faded. Now it isn't all just mind soup. When I start getting real high, I will zone out for maybe 2 minutes. I will be looking at something or thinking of something, then I will look around and come back to reality. Looking around feels like I just stepped out of a more action-packed situation. Coming out of my thought makes me feel like I just turned off a good movie, and then just sit there with the TV off thinking "what the hell was I doing just sitting there?". My thoughts become even more strange as my mind dips freely into my subconcious and preconcious. I will also begin to use my imagination (something I believe most humans fail to use) at this point. I was faded and walking around Target today, and I was imagining there was a small character to the side of me, following along me. The character is maybe 8 inches tall, a stick-figure, and it must jump from shelf to shelf and hang onto price tags and run along shopping carts to stay by my side. I walked around for like 15 minutes imagining that, and was thorouhgly entertained.
After that the world changes. I call this being "gone". I have a very specific definition for being gone. You definitely are no longer on the normal plain of existence; this is more then just being high, you're, well gone. The world looks TOTALLY different to you than it does to a sober person or someone who isnt as high. It's like looking at the world with a new set of eyes. The first thing I notice is everything seems smaller. I was sitting in my backyard, and I looked up and it hit me that the whole yard only seemed like it was half the size than it usually is. Furniture seems tiny, like I am in a picture. I feel like a giant walking around in a different, mini-world. This is when I laugh. A lot of people will laugh from highs under this one, but I need to be GONE to really bust up at nothing. I kind of lose my mind when I am gone; i dont have as strong as an imagination or subconcsious toughts like when I am little below this. When Im gone I just walk around in this new fascinating world, looking at shit. Its fucking cool, but the farther away you travel from Earth (anything beyond this point is just going further) you might freak out or get sick. Once I vomitted from being too high, it was an interested experience.
Thats just the mind affects. I can talk about being high all day. I have way more affects I try to explain, thats just the levels of how your mind and perception change.

zalami128: I couldn't have explained it better. I haven't been, as you put it, "gone" in a long time, but I think tonight, I'm going to smoke until I reach that point. I love smoking to the point of smoking too much, where things are totally different and you start to get a little paranoid. Sadly, my hookah is broken, so I'll have to smoke joints tonight. I feel as if bongs and hookahs actually get me more high.
[align=center]Cannabis has done nothing but help myself and others I know. It is a beneficial plant. Anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant and/or brainwashed. It should not be illegal anywhere in the world.

I love the highs I get where I'm just cycling strange concepts through my mind and letting myself zone out while I begin to feel like the geometry and proportions of everything becomes completely skewed for 5 minutes or so.
I really need to do that more often.

for me, getting high now is not as enjoyable as it was wheni was say 16 - 18 years old. Now it seems when i smoke (even just a fews hits) i feel like im in a dream or another world... by body starts to clench up, my stomach tightenes and i feel very anxious and short of breath. Im hoping maybe its due to the fact that i just recently started smoking again after many many years. But i do remember this is the reason why i quit in the first place. When i used to smoke years ago, it felt so awesome and me and one of my friends would go through a bag everynight on the weekend. At some point smoking started to make me feel anxious and very uncomfortable, like i was going to lose control and i wanted to just jump out of my skin and go hide somewhere. Maybe somthing changed with me psychologically and smoking enahances these feelings. Anyhow, i will continue to smoke little at a time to see if anything changes. Could shitty MJ cause people to have anxious highs? Because where i live there is no such thing as premium weed... its all just regular generic crap i guess. There are no exotic names or blends, its just weed. Are there known strains that are less likely to cause anxiety? Im pretty new here to the boards, been trolling for a while but just recently registered. Thanks for listening.

somebody follows freud i see
for me, things are just smooth as can be
i am sitting outside typing this on the deck of my pool drinking sweet tea and trees are swaying in the breeze...yet the sway seems a little more fluid to me because of the blunt i just smoked (the new white owl watermelon blunts are a must buy\).
anyways that is how i feel mentally. but to be honest, my highs are always different.. sometimes i am really up there, sometimes i just feel slightly light headed and relaxed.
things are interpreted differently for me when i'm high... watching tv, playing video games, doing anything electronically is a different feeling, a lot more distorted and fun (depending on your reaction to the feeling i guess)... but at the same time, going out with friends, being around family, going to work, every day things... those usually seem a lot different too.
i personally hate being around my parents and people that could potentially "catch me"... it's just not a good way to be high. that's why i don't do it in school... that and my school only has about 200 kids in my senior class and the teachers know everyone's name and basic biography.
but i am lost on a tangent now. probably because im feeling a little too stoned to collect my thoughts on this subject, because i think about this often... most of the time when i'm high.
happy fkn memorial day and fare well
