    How to use computer fans?

a computer fan takes verry little power to run if you give it to much it will burn up the motor i would get one of those adjustable output power cords
that they make for hand held cd players and stuff like that at wal-mart in the electronics section there about $8.00 and go 3 to 12 volts then just cut and splice start with it on the lowest setting and move it up until the fan starts working dont over do it though the fan might even say how many volts it takes right on it

    good luck

To maximize your safety, I strongly urge you to take the computer fans you will be using, go to a Radio Shack and tell them you need to set up the fans to run from a wall socket. They'll match a power adapter to the correct wattage/amperage rating for each fan.

Otherwise, if you just grab a random power adapter from another electrical appliance, you run the risk of overloading the power adaptor.

    How to use computer fans?

ello this could come in handy for ya to get ya fan working without it having to be hooked up to the computer what im about to tell ya works brilliant for me i have 3 fans hooked up together on a dc adapter

on the fans there is 3 wires red, black, yellow the red and black wires are ya elctical wires and the yellow is a fan speed controller wire that monitors rpm
right snip off the yellow wire as it is not needed and take the red and black wires peel off the insulation slightly and wire them to a 12volt dc adapter you can buy these from any hardware stall
snip off the end of ya adapter and there are 2 wires you will notice they are both black but one of them will be marked with lil white lines this is the wire ya will be attaching the red wire too twist them together insulate with electrical tape and do the same on the other black wire
then you are good to go
plug it in dude and thats it
    cheers hope this helps

They run perfectly on 9 volts. You either need to wire in a 9 volt mains adapter or use batteries.

I also used to use PC fans, but i gave up with them.

To run PC fans i always just use a computer powersupply... easiest/safest option.

    How to use computer fans?

If you use the adapter to run the fan you don't need to snip off the yellow fan wire or the adapter head you can make intersections in the adapter wire leaving the head intact. If you snip the red and black wires on the pc fan and wrap them round the intersection you made on the adapter wire you can use both and be able to use them again.
