USA - The Sheriff's department is calling him "an experienced gardener," but what he was growing has landed the Riverside, Washington man behind bars.

The Sheriff's department arrested 45-year-old James Tefft on Thursday for growing marijuana in his backyard. He was growing the plants in pairs, underneath towering trees on his property, in hopes they wouldn't be seen from up above.

To his surprise, his operation eventually got sniffed out. Sheriff's investigators hauled away 32 plants ranging from two to seven feet tall. A Fish and Game agent made the discovery several weeks ago when he was tracking an injured deer on Tefft's property.

That led to the investigation and to Thursday's bust. Dave Reagan, from the Sheriff's department said, "Drug guys say he's grown them before.somebody that knows horticultures."

Investigators say Tefft watered his plants using PVC piping that ran from his mobile home throughout his backyard. Detectives were hoping to execute a second-degree search warrant later in the evening to check inside his home for more marijuana.
