How do you set up a hydro system, just a small simple one for say one plant.

Could anyone set up a nice tutorial for me? with pictures?
That would be an extremely helpful guide for newbies like me

One plant ? That would be a bubbler, very easy or a drip system. Just about as easy, I like drip better. You can make one yourself for pennies. The big ?? is what kind of light Do you have or going to get. At least a 400 HPS with a conversion 400 MH for veg. Really what you ask for is all over the hydro section. Many put thier grows on to help others start. Every ones grow is a little dif. Here is a small 2 plant system but you can make one but 46 bucks ain't bad, with instruction on video cd. http://www.landmsales.com/Hydromagnum.htm I use the one with 6 plants but the 2 will grow trees. My grow only has a few weeks left and I might get a pound. Of coarse I have a new 1000HPS hortilux eye that doubles my harvest from a cheap bulb. Do a search on my name you will see my grows. Unless one of us were right there and knew what you had and could spend and your space, it's hard. Just one plant. What if it's male ? You can get fem seed or clone from a fem mother. If you want to do hydro, some say it's hard but if I can do it anyone can. Read all you can even a small system needs almost the same equipment as a big one. Like PH meter and a EC,TDS meter. I don't think just one tutorial would help everyone because we are all a little dif. Read up and then ask ???? Do you just want a hobby or grow your own to keep from buying crap weed. Any way read and keep asking ???? Later and no worries mate.

    Thanks man.
I live over in AUS >< and all i want really is to be able to visualise this
    http://www.cannabis.com/growing/h2ogardn.shtml
Like i can read it but i just dont see it, if someone could post homemade pictures of how they did it.

Like buying materials from hardware stores (PVC pipe) and how to fixture it to work for just a starter plant.

But thanks for that site i can kinda see how its done.

I can visualise it. Man that's way to complicated than it has to be. Can you get net pots ? Say about 5 inches. 1/4 inch tubeing ?A small pond pump from a garden store or air pump from fish store , a couple air stones. Get dual air pump.. Each 5 gallon bucket can be fitted like this, you can grow trees in them.
1- drill 2 holes near top of bucket for 1/4 inch tubing, black tubing is better. Run tubes through holes and hook up air stones and place on bottom of bucket.
2- cut hole in the top of bucket for net pot, if you don't have net pot use a plastic flower pot and cut slots and holes. Like a net pot.
3- With the lid on and the net pot in place fill with water just to the botom of net pot. Take the top off and mark that on the inside of bucket. Empty bucket and mark 1 and 2 inches bellow the line. This is where you want you nutrient level to stay.
4- Put it all together fill net pot with hydrotron or lava rock for a grill. Beat the lava rock up some with a hammer, to big marble size. Oh and put a well started plant in with it.

That's a bubbler and the grow trees in them, change nutrients every 7 to 14 days.
If you want drip. Go for a small pond pump or the pump you looked at but it sounded kind of high. Aqua via has good pumps and prices. drill another hole run the 1/4 inch tub through it and hook up to pump turn pump on low. Place pump in bottom of bucket. Run the other end that is outside and to the net pot. Run it to one side of the net pot, so you don't get the stalk wet all the time. A piece of wire wrapped arond tube and held to side of net pot.

Keep water level at all times and PH too. What's an aussy exchange rate to the US dollar? Sytems can be real easy.

I personally have 3-4 threads that show you everything you need to know!!! Here are 2 piks...One shows a harvested stem sitting in a 5 gallon bucket/bubbler...and a 10 gallon bubbler/tub above it.

pik 2 this is all you need to build a bubbler...just substitute 5 gallon bucket or 10 gallon tub for 2.5 gallon water jug shown in pic...goodluck

    lw

ps check sticky at top of hydro...Madman goes aero...It will show you everything you need to know to build a recycling system...I am updating that thread this weeken; Showing how to adapt a powerhead pump to that system and converting it to drip.

I also will be showing a recycling DWC unit, I have had for awhile. :smokin:

[QUOTE=latewood]I forgot piks hate when I do that, especially on sat. afternoon:smokin:

If you search...cloning directly to hydroton bubbler...I
    think that had bubbler how-to..
$10 bubbler H2O included...is where pik of small bubbler came from.

all you do is stick an aquarium airstone in the bottom of a bucket attached to an airpump...cut hole for netpot in top.

Bam you got a bubbler. If you want to recycle...watch my sticky...the next 2 days.

    attachments taking forever. so...:smokin: ..........:stoned:
    waiting...

ps...I grew 1/2 my 1st 2 grows in these little water jugs.

sorry to hijack the thread lol
but i have a single plant drip system with 2 sprinklers faced towards the net pot underneath and well the drip line up top.

would it be worth putting an airstone and pump in the tank? or wil the drip system be fine?
would this setup be fine for 2 plants? i will be doing 2 plants in the same tub.

    cheers

Hey AusGuy, welcome to hydro and the boards.
Are you growing from seed or clone?
I recommend growing from clone especially if you are going with one plant.
I can help you set up something really basic. It makes latewoods bubbler look like it was designed by NASA. I can give you brand names and store names to get the whole thing up and running. Shouldn't cost more than $115 AUS dollars including lights and nutes. Or about $48 without lights, less if you already have an airpump. You can expect a yield of at least 2ounces. And you won't even need to visit a hydro shop or buy anything online.
