I think it's a lot more peaceful to trip after a bowl because I'm relaxed with the high going on. Sometimes it gets scary without it because its a different feeling. I guess it really depends on what substance you're using... for example I only smoke a pinch before using salvia compared to a bowl or two before using mescaline.

true. more visuals and it makes the trip easier to take. you go with the flow more. weed is also a mild hallucinogen too of course. Its by far the kindest one to your psyche too, so it can both enhance a trip and make it more cheerful.
