You know Gumby I questioned my churchs practices before but never my belief in God..I was divorced and when I went to remarry I was turned away by 30 Baptist preachers..I am serious..they refused to marry us because I had previously been married and then divorced..I still go to Baptist Churches though lol..I understand better than you think about hypocrisy in religion but still don't get how religion is causing all this chaos in the world...I keep think its that male thing..testosterone.

I propose that the ancient peoples had a better sense of how to live than us. This was before "religion" as we know it - more than 10 thousand years ago. They took various natural substances, and herbs, to improve their minds and bodies. When the supplies started drying up, due to the Ice Age and other natural causes, they created stockpiles with armies to guard them. Eventually, they replaced the sacred mushrooms and other sacraments with liquor, useless rituals, and other self-destructive behaviors. Things have been going downhill for the human race ever since.
I'd suggest reading Terrence McKenna's books for further information on this topic. I also liked The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross: A Study of the Nature and Origins of Christianity within the Fertility Cults of the Ancient Near East by John Marco Allegro - his theories may not be 100% accurate, but the ideas are interesting. Some experts have disputed the importance of psychedelic mushrooms, and claim that other drugs were more prevalent. Either way, it's all very interesting.

What a load of garbage really and are the christians corrupt?Must be with all the wheeling and dealing that goes on.
it's the religious right, the same people who are passing this email around who want the censure the media and the words that are allowed to be said. It is/was the chruch that created cursed words... and the only reason some words aren't allowed to be said... like, shit - piss - fuck - cunt - cock sucker - mother fucker - and tits (carlin is god )... but the words were only profane because they weren't used in the house of the lord... but it was a lot more than the selective censuring amerika is using. It's being hypocrytical to want your God and Idols spread around, breaking on of the Ten Commandments, and want to be rightous at the same time...
Here Here Gumby, so true i'm sure most of the media is and all behind the scenes running the programs and choosing particular stories so certain ones don't get let out like how much abuse goes on in these organizations/churches and worst still they know about it and cover it up.Shameful and they think that god would truely be like that if there is such a thing.

What an impressive vocabulary..maybe its not religion that should censor some of those words but common decency imo..to each their own but some of those words are just degrading and nasty..but your right to use them..and my right to say how disgusting they are...now Christians are blamed for that lol...right.

You're way off base on this one. It's called good business. Should I have to learn to speak Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, in order to do business in America? I'll answer it for you. In an OVER WHELMING amount of jobs NO!!!! It amazes me that people don't get this.

One of the things that America gets it's strength from is our ability to adapt. Problems? Yes, as do all walks of life. We are a young country that is just over 250 years old and we are still growing. Has any country as diverse as ours come as far as we have in the last 250 years?
I'm proud to be an American. It has offered me so many opportunities to grow and live my life. I truely wish everyone, no matter where they live or what they believe in, could have the opportunities that I have had in the United States. The old saying "Life is what you make it" still applies in my world.

couldn't edit my post: One of the things that America gets it's strength from is our ability to adapt to the world around us while not forcing us to change our life styles on the home front.

Any belief in gods, devils, ghosts, miracles, heaven and hell, prayers, 72 virgins for jihadists, and similar absurdities, is mental illness.
