It sounds to me like you've just jumped headfirst into the world of growing without any reading/concept to what you're doing whatsoever. LOL! Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It doesn't sound like you have "one" problem, but to me it sounds like you don't even know where to start.

I'm going to tell you right now, unless you plan on going balls-deep into this, you're going to be a little dissapointed.

Define "High Tech" soil, because I can buy a huge bag of soil at my local nursery at the price of McDonalds for 2.

If you want to make your own soil, it is possible - but requires a lot more work and you need to manually heat up the soil to sterilize it. If you want a guide on how to do so, just get back to me. I really, really recommend just buying a bag of soil and a bag of pearlite (2-3 bucks) and mix 1/3 pearlite with 2/3 soil.

Of course.. that is if you're growing outside in pots.

If not, try mother nature - but I still recommend digging a hole and using your own soil mix. This is coming from someone who's had plenty of soil problems, but like I said - it's all up to you.
