Student Leaders Arrested for Broadcasting About Tiananmen Massacre

Student club leaders at prestigious Shanghai university arrested for broadcasting film readdressing 1989 Tiananmen Massacre
    Yue Yun / Epoch Times | May 23 2006
In the spring of 2006, a student club at a prestigious university in Shanghai City broadcasted a film on campus readdressing the 1989 June 4 Tiananmen Massacre. After the broadcast, the student club distributed pamphlets and setup a website. Over 100 people participated in this activity. An insider disclosed to The Epoch Times that this student club was likely to have been set up by students at either the Shanghai Jiao Tong University or Tongji University.
Somebody secretly reported the students' activity to the Chinese Communist officials. As a result, the next day, the president and the vice president of the club were arrested and the website was blocked. The parents of the two students went to school to see their children and complained with the student office. One day later, several students joined to express support, hoping that they will be released.
An insider said that the public security office has information that the student club obtained foreign financial support to organize this activity; pamphlets they distributed were also printed with this money.
When another student phoned the club president and vice president's home, their parents claimed that their children were traveling. It seems that the public security office had forced them to say so. No further details are available on this incident at present.

yeah, as evidenced by the wto protests in seattle where the police protected the "anarchists," and housed them in federal housing and maced innocent protesters against the WTO...as the anarchists broke storefront windows and smashed cars...but the effect was there, because now people associate anarchy with being against world dictatorship.

or the peaceful christian protesters in this country in the late 80's that i posted video of, peacefully sitting on a sidewalk being choked as they're dragged away, one gets his arm snapped in half by a cop wielding nunchucks dragging him away.

you're ignorant, stop talking to me.

you don't know what freedom is.

It is pretty amazing how the Chinese government continues to do everything possible to keep the truth about Tiananmen under wraps from it's own citizens. Most Chinese(in China) that I have talked to have a vague idea that something happened but no idea exactly what. Tiananmen Square itself is a pretty weird place. I thought it would be a somber place, almost like a cemetary or something. Instead, it's like a giant cement park; people picknicking, flying kites, doing taiqi, etc. Weird.

Then again, our media is just as bad about telling us the truth about what happened there. What really happened is a far cry from what most Americans have been led to believe and here's the kicker- The U.S. government's reaction to the protesters would have been the exact same thing if it happened here.
