a plant will survive a dry spell, but constant overwatering could kill it.
golden rule: when a plant needs watering, water it well. when it doesnt need water dont water it at all.
if you water your plants little and often the water doesnt get far enough down the pot and the roots will turn upwards looking for water, and you dont want this to happen. more chance of being male for starters.
good luck..

WATER METERS
what is the story with checkin the soil from the drain holes in the pot,is it got TOO dry by the time you could tell by checking this way, also the fert i got i was told to feed by putting the solution in the saucers and feed from the saucers up,is this the only way or is it ok to feed from the top,its bio-grow by bio-bizz i got for the veg growth stage and its 1ml per litre mix?

WATER METERS
if youre growing in soil you should have an inch or two of gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage so i dont see how a young plant could benefit from saucer feeding. i would definitely water from the top, with feed.
as for checking soil wetness from the bottom up. i think thats just silly.
