I transplant mine once, not even transplant really. I start them in jiffy pots until they are good and strong looking and then I drop the jiffy pot into a pot that is big enough to hold them until finish. The smaller pots do make it easier to water small plants that dont have deep roots initally, but the roots will grow deep quickly. If space is a consideration, then keeping the plants in small pots until the can be sexed and seperated is far more space saving then having 20-30 1 gallon pots for 2" plants that about 1/2 of them will be tossed out.
